New TLD Announcements

Not sure if many of you have been following the new TLD project, but the application period is now closed.. Several of the companies have made announcements, including Google who are planning on a .lol
They're also going to be trying for .docs :

Honestly, I'm satisfied with .com domains, haha.
If I do find short word domains, I'll grab 'em quick but I do hope they're not expensive like .co or worst, .XXX, haha.

I wonder what combo's you can have fun with and how many G will "reserve".

Imagine how you could parody all of the big brands - Nike.lol or Ryanair.lol.

You wouldn't be able to register any brands or trademarks. One of the key things with new TLDs is that there's a huge amount of brand / trademark / intellectual property protections built in to the entire system.
So if you were to register brandname.lol it would probably be taken down within a day or two..
