Didn't that cost them 40,000 euro or something? Enda and co. really, really, really screwed up in every way possible.

The story has been getting worse as the day goes on ..
And yes, they seemingly did spend 40k on it - though I'm not sure what that was for exactly

I wonder if they were charged extra for the holding page that's up there now.

Wonder why they didn't just get the old site up faster - unless they actually planned this as a publicity stunt.

I've been asking myself the same question
At the moment they do not have any functional website online anywhere

I too was wondering if this was a stupid publicity stunt, but it couldn't be this stupid.

"A thundering disgrace", as an Irish Politician once uttered.

They shouldn't be sending work and money abroad, while "talking" about shortening dole queues here.

And Michele went too easy on them, in the papers.

It should be insisted that they cancel their account, and host something in Ireland if they want it.

Well Fine Gael aren't alone in hosting overseas .. they were, however, the last party to move offshore ...
Have a listen to the end of this podcast http://www.rte.ie/podcasts/2011/pc/pod-v-08011153m33ssaturdayviewr1.mp3 where Simon Coveney tries to defend their decision to take it all offshore ...

There is no defense, but extended insult blended with rhetoric.
What would be extremely fitting in these times we're in, is for someone here who happens to be on the dole, to compile an online list of Irish Government (taxpayers money) sites which are abroad.

I often tell people to host in Ireland, as much for security reasons than the other factors -
1)At least you can drive to the server
2)The Guards can drive to it. You can plug it out, in some way.
3)You can knock on someone's door
4)The jurisdiction is more easily understood - well accessed.
5)That little understood word - accountability, might sum it up!

What if Fine Gael or anyone was contacted by the newspaper, telling them of the interesting Porn display on their site or the one that it may redirect to? Its more serious that people think and they are just lucky to get away with it.
Direct control, if possible, is the responsible way forward.
